Burt Rutan to Keynote Mentor Graphics 21st Annual International User Conference
WILSONVILLE, Ore.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Feb. 10, 2005—
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) today
announced that registration is open for its 21st annual international
User2User conference, aimed at designers of leading electronics.
User2User 2005 will be held April 27-29 at the Santa Clara Marriott in
Santa Clara, Calif. The event will feature two keynote speakers.
Aviation pioneer Burt Rutan, chief designer of SpaceShipOne, the
world's first private manned spacecraft, will present the first
keynote. SpaceShipOne earned the $10 million Ansari X-Prize for its
two successful launches into space within a 14-day time frame. The
second keynote speaker will be Michael Sander of NASA Jet Propulsion
Laboratories (JPL). Sander leads the JPL efforts in support of the new
NASA Exploration Initiative. In addition, Adam Savage and Jamie
Hyneman of the Discovery Channel's MythBusters will also make an
appearance.
User2User 2005 will offer attendees the opportunity to interact
directly with other Mentor tool users, technology experts, partners
and tools. It will feature approximately 170 technical presentations,
many by users from companies and government agencies such as NASA,
Sun, Motorola, Nokia, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Lucent and Freescale.
User2User 2005 technology tracks will include mixed-signal design,
custom integrated circuit (IC) design, printed circuit board (PCB)
design, design-for-test (DFT), emulation, field programmable gate
array (FPGA) design, hardware/software co-verification, high-speed
design, nanometer design and verification, simulation and design
environment.
The two keynotes focus on pioneering designs that enhance our
ability to travel in various environments, including space. A gifted
engineer, adventurer and entrepreneur, Rutan also designed the
record-breaking Voyager -- the first airplane to circle the world
non-stop without refueling. Similarly, Sander is known for heading the
development of the next-generation Mars Lander, which will contain
increased payload and have the ability to operate on the surface of
Mars for several years. By contrast, Savage and Hyneman specialize in
designing methods and experiments that they use to prove or disprove
widely held beliefs. The duo will discuss the origins of the show,
share a blooper reel and conduct several live demonstrations.
Early Bird registration discounts will be available for a limited
time beginning Feb. 9, 2005. Members of Mentor Graphics User Group
(MUG) will receive an additional $50 off for registering early. For
